KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Kirksville School Board meets following the April election.

The board met Wednesday at the Kirksville School District Administration Building to reorganize.

Incumbents Gay Nichting and Dr. Neal Chamberlan were re-elected by voters yesterday and took the Oath of Office.

Election of officers also took place; Chamberlan was elected President while Larry Logston took the position of Vice President.

School officials are optimistic for another great term next year.

"We have a good board of education that keeps student needs first. They work hard and put a lot of hours working on school decisions and representing their community. They just do a wonderful job. I'm very proud and honored to work with them," said Kirksville School Superintendent Patrick Williams.

The board is discussing the Stadium Enhancement Project, which will renovate Spainhower Field with new bleachers and new turf.

Williams says it's long overdue.

"You have to consider the costs and how it will help expand the use of the facility. We are already in the process to begin renovations. So we want to put a quality surface that will be allowed to use its maximum capacity," Williams said.

The renovations will cost the board about $700,000.

The board will make the final decisions on the project next month.
