EDDYVILLE-BLAKESBURG, IOWA -- Students at Eddyville-Blakesburg High School were able to hear from professionals from different careers at the school's annual job fair Wednesday.

Representatives from the military, sales, cosmetology, machine technology and more gathered to talk to the students and offer information about schooling and jobs in their field.

KTVO was there to let students try their hand at reporting. Tucker Black took the KTVO mic to interview senior Tanner Powers.

"What has been your favorite career day class so far?" Black asked.

"So far today, I had the army, that was a pretty fun presentation, talked about all the basic training and everything. I also had a machine technician, that was fun too, and also broadcast journalism... that's been a blast so far!"

Senior Michael Gates said he was interested in pursuing marketing, news or sports in the future, and plans to major in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa next year.

"I would like to work here in the area, maybe someday in professional sports," Gates said.

Freshman Gage Delacruse has a few years until college, but used the career fair as a way to look to the future.

"I wanted to hear about broadcast journalism, it sounded like an interesting career and I like to write a lot and write about news," he said.

The career fair is put on by the Eddyville-Blakesburg student council, and each year, they try to bring a wide-range of jobs for the students to choose from.
