KIRKSVILLE, MO -- One Heartland organization is stepping up to help those in need and is asking the public for your help.

The Kirksville Young Professionals Group along with The Kirksville Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a Home Goods Shower for the Victim Support Services' Safehouse.

Throughout the month of March, the community is encouraged to purchase and donate any home items.

"Our community service group looks for organizations to serve all over town and Victim Support Services cam up as a good one to serve. It was a great fit to our group. The kind of thing we would accomplish and feel good about," said Amanda Powell of Kirksville Young Professionals.

Suggested items include cleaning supplies, appliances, linens, and other goods for bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, and laundry rooms. These items will help give the program's families for who are looking forward to a safe and new beginning.
