KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- If you're having trouble finding somewhere to take your kids during spring break, the Adair County Public Library has the solution.

They're hosting Wii tournaments for all school aged children from March 6-8, from 1 to 3 pm. Then on March 9, the library staff will show a movie and provide popcorn.

Some of the Wii games featured in the tournament include Guitar Hero, Super Smash Brothers, and Mario Cart.

Here's the schedule:

Tuesday, March 6: Guitar Hero Wii for grades 4-6

Wednesday, March 7: Super Smash Brothers Wii for Tweens and Teens for grades 7-12

Thursday, March 8: Mario Kart Wii for grades K-3

Friday, March 9: Movie and popcorn

Children's Librarian Diane Burger said they've had similar programming in the past with great success.

"The kids have lots of fun," said Diane Burger, the Adair County Public Library Children's Librarian. "Sometimes the kids who think they're going to win, don't always win and the kids that don't think they're going to win, come out on top. They might be eliminated right away but battle up to the front. That's what happened the last tournament we had."

Burger said it's a great event for kids who are staying in town during their week off.

"Not everybody gets to leave town over spring break. I felt that there's a need to have something to do at the library and so we're playing the games and it's from 1-3 in the afternoon and it takes about that long to through a double elimination."

Burger said the winners will receive a book. Also, she said the event may include board games and a story-telling hour.

After spring break, the library will be hosting "Ceilidh Dance Fever."  The event will take place March 15 from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The Ceilidh Dance Club from Truman State will teach Irish Dance steps and tell Irish Tall Tales.
