OTTUMWA, IA -- Jump 2012 is Sat. Feb. 24 at the Quincy Place Mall from 11a.m.-1p.m.  This will be the 3rd year the event has been held.

The primary goal is to promote physical activity to children and their families.

“We’re using this as our demonstrators for how much Ottumwa kids love to move and get moving and to show some of those things they are experiencing when they are in P.E.class.,” says Wildwood Elementary P.E. teacher Ruth Thomas.

There will be a variety of activities that the children can participate in. Such activities include hula hooping, jump roping, and dancing.

“We’ve been teaching the kids in class here a couple of the dances that they’ll experience going through here,” says Thomas.

The event is for any child in grades 2 through 5 and is free.  More than 100 kids are expected to show up. Healthy snacks will also be given out keeping with the theme of being active and healthy.
