KIRKSVILLE, MO -- National FFA Week continues with activities here at home.

The Kirksville High School FFA Chapter put on its annual Barnyard Days event.

The event is a petting zoo of farm animals that included goats, a donkey, a horse, a few chickens, a turkey, sheep even a calf.

The group hosts this event to offer children a better understanding of the field of agriculture.

"I'm hoping that they just love animals, farm animals especially. We want them to learn more about what they are and how they are different from regular pets that you have in your house," said Morgan Baker, a member of Kirksville FFA.

The group's main focus for this event is to stress the importance of ag education.

"I know when I was younger, I went to one of these and I really enjoyed it. It made me interested in horses, sheep, and agriculture. It feels good to teach little kids, plus a lot of them haven't seen farm animals till now so it's a whole new experience for them," said CJ Bunch, Kirksville FFA member.

There was even a pig pen in which kids could run after a few pigs. KTVO'S Vanessa Alonso joined in the fun.

Kirksville wraps-up FFA Week tomorrow night with a dance at the school.
