KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- A Kirksville man is in custody after he allegedly attempted to run over a woman with his car.

Robert McFeely, 54, is facing felony charges of first degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon and a misdemeanor charge of d-w-i following the incident Sunday night.

According to court papers, Kirksville officers were called to a report of a man attempting to run over a woman on Elizabeth Street between Don and Main streets.

When police arrived witnesses told them McFeely had attempted to run over the victim with a vehicle, after he had threatened her with a knife. Police say McFeely had blood shot and glassy eyes, along with a strong smell of intoxicants at the scene.
