KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- If you are having trouble filing your tax return, a student group at Truman State University might be able to help.

All day Saturday, Beta Alpha Psi held its annual volunteer income tax assistance program in Violette Hall. Students and people from the community were able to get their income tax returns filed for free within an hour.

Organizers said in 2012, 150 people volunteered to help out so they could gain valuable experience.

"It's an important service because it allows the members of the community to have their tax returns prepared for free as well as it gives an invaluable hands on experience to the members of Beta Alpha Psi who help out with along with the other student members," said Lucas Dille, Vice President of Beta Alpha Psi.

Dille said the volunteers have gone through the IRS test and certification process.

They are having four more sessions, Saturdays: Feb. 18, Feb. 25, March 24 and March 31. All of the sessions are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Organizers ask that you take a photo ID, W-2s, 1099s, Social Security card, and your bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit.
