Search continues for missing southeast Iowa business owner

WASHINGTON COUNTY, IOWA -- Update: Monday, Jan. 9, 8:20 pm

Investigators continue to look for clues in the case of missing Iowa woman, Sharon Hopf, 45, of Crawfordsville.

According to investigators, shortly after Hopf left for work, her cellphone signal disapeared. Minutes later, her credit card was used at a gas station in Ainsworth, along I-80. Her family says a stop at that gas station isn't her normal routine.

Hopf has been missing since January 5th.

The car of a missing Iowa woman, was found over the weekend in Missouri.
    
45-year-old Sharon Hopf of Crawfordsville, Iowa has been missing since January 5th, when she failed to show up at her business in Kalona, Iowa.

The Warren County Missouri Sheriff's Office located Hopf's vehicle near Wright City,Missouri on Saturday. The car was found at an abandoned home on Route F just outside the city limits. The area around the location where the car was found was searched, but Hopf was not located.

Hopf is 5 feet-8 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen January 5th around 8-30 a.m. at a gas station in Washington, Iowa.

Update: Sunday, Jan. 8, 10:43 pm

The Washington County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Sharon Hopf's vehicle was found in St. Louis, Missouri.  They said they are still looking for her and state that her vehicle is being processed for evidence. The Sheriff's Office said they will release more information when it becomes available.

Also, family and friends have started a Facebook page for Sharon Hopf. They have also created several flyers.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in locating a missing southeast Iowa businesswoman.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Sharon Ruth Hopf, 45, of Crawfordsville, did not show up for work Thursday at the company she owns in Kalona. Her company, Hopf Home Furnishings, carries an array of furniture and bedding and has stores in Coralville and Kalona. She's listed as the co-owner on its website.

The department said she was last seen at a gas station in Washington at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and was driving a 1999 white Chevy Lumina with the Iowa license plate number 419wxf.

Investigators said anyone with information regarding her whereabouts should call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at  (319) 653-2107.
