KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Gardener and quilter Hannah Coorts celebrated her 100th birthday Wednesday at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center with her son and daughter-in-law.
Throughout her lifetime, Coorts has been a dedicated member of the Faith Lutheran Church. She was born in Emden, Ill., and then moved to Linneus, Mo., with her husband to raise their four sons on a farm. After her husband died in 1975, she moved to Kirksville.
Along with having a good family and eating lots of vegetables, she said her religion has brought her a mighty long way.
"One of the main parts, faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord," said Coorts.
Coorts is also a huge Cardinals fan and was ecstatic that the Cardinals won the World Series in 2011, the same year she turned 100.
Along with four sons, she has eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
