OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Update: Tuesday, Dec. 6, 5:39 p.m.

An Ottumwa teen facing a murder charge has been bound over to District Court.

Brandon Seim, 18, is charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of Andy Madren, 34, also of Ottumwa.

Following a preliminary hearing, the judge found sufficient evidence to move the case forward. The incident occurred at a residence on E. Division Street in Ottumwa Nov. 27.

Seim remains in the Wapello County Jail under a $500,000 cash only bond.

An Ottumwa man charged with murder could find himself out of jail soon.

That is if he can come up with a half a million dollars.

According to online court records, Brandon J. Seim made his initial court appearance on Monday.

Seim pleaded not guilty to a charge of First Degree Murder in Wapello County District Court.

Seim had been held in the Wapello County Jail without bond, however on Monday bond was set.

Seim can get himself released if he can post a half a million dollar cash-only bond.

Seim was arrested on Sunday afternoon after police responded to a report of a stabbing on Division Street.

When they arrived on the scene found 34-year-old Andy Madren suffering from multiple stab wounds. Madren died a few hours later at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Ottumwa police have still not offered a possible motive for the crime.

Seim will be in court again on December 5 for his preliminary hearing.

A fatal stabbing took place in the City of Bridges Sunday afternoon.

According to Ottumwa Police Chief Jim Clark; at around 3 pm, officers with the department responded to a report of a stabbing at 1127 East Division.

When officers arrived they found, Andy Madren, 34, of Ottumwa, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Madren was taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center where he later died.

After an investigation, officers took Brandon J. Seim, 18, of Ottumwa into custody.

Seim is being charged and accused of 1st Degree Murder. In Iowa, that is a Class "A" Felony.

According to Chief Clark, Seim is being held in the Wapello County Jail without bond.
