KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- It was showtime at the Kirksville Primary School Saturday evening as the Kirksville High School dance team presented its "Dancing with the Local Stars.

The fundraiser was held in conjunction with the Kirksville Booster Club, in order to raise money for the dance team and after-prom. The show featured many prominent men in the Kirksville community dancing to the beats of the cha-cha-cha, hip hop and the jive.

The KHS dance team coach said the men dedicated a lot of time practicing for the event.

"The men have been wonderful," said Suzann Copeland.  "They are our heroes. They have put in an entire week of practice. We held open gym at the high school from 3 to 9 p.m. every night this week and they have practiced their hearts away. Some of the men have been there every night this week working to really put on a show for everyone tonight."

The winners included Lt. Colonel Jim Tenpenny and Morgan Carnes in the jive category, Dr. Josh Valtos and Richae Tipton in the hip hop category, and Rashaad Barnett and Grace Sexton in the cha-cha-cha category.

Also, KTVO's Scott Kellum was there to show off his cha-cha-cha skills.
