BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- A southeast Iowa suspect who briefly escaped from the Davis County Jail last week is now facing a slew of new charges.

On October 29, Kelly Joe Shiltz, 44, of Cincinnati, Iowa slipped out of custody, stole a vehicle containing a firearm and led local law enforcement on a brief, high-speed chase through rural Davis County before being captured.

Shiltz now faces charges of escape, criminal mischief, 2nd-degree theft, assault, burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was previously facing burglary and theft charges.

Shiltz remains in custody at the Davis County Jail on $100,000 cash only bond.

His preliminary hearing is set for November 7.
