LAPLATA, MISSOURI -- A northeast Missouri man escapes serious injury in a crash on Highway 63 near LaPlata.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Roy Payne, 49, of LaPlata was injured Wednesday morning when the trailer he was pulling was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer rig driven by Michael Preston, 55, of Eldon, Missouri. The crash caused Payne’s vehicle to jack-knife.

Payne was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville for treatment of minor injuries.
