KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A Northeast Missouri man is behind bars after an altercation with a friend.
According to court papers, James Steele, 35, of Kirksville was consuming alcohol with a friend when the conversation took a wrong turn.
Steele allegedly struck the victim in the face with a full can of beer and then his fist, causing the need for stitches.
Steele is being held in the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond, charged with second degree assault, a class C felony.
