RANDOLPH COUNTY, MO -- The Randolph County Coroner has ruled the death of a newborn baby boy found in May in a pond near Higbee a homicide.

Gerald Luntsford declined additional comments to GoodRadio Wednesday, citing the investigation was ongoing.

Cassidy KingCassidy King, 25, of Moberly, Mo. is currently charged with abandonment of a corpse in the case.

King waived formal arraignment Wednesday afternoon in Randolph County Circuit Court and pleaded "not guilty." She also filed two oral motions with Judge Scott Hayes.

The felony complaint against King alleges that on or about April 17th to the 25th, she was the mother of an infant boy whose body she disposed of in a farm pond on Route "H" near Higbee.

The statement says a towel was discovered in a duffel bag with the baby boy and that the baby, towel and bag were found May 8th in the pond.
