KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee is looking for a new leader.
KDIC Board President Kylene Puckett tells KTVO the board made the decision to fire executive director Lynn Daniels on Tuesday during a closed session meeting.
“The KDIC board has been in discussions for a couple months now and has decided that it's just not the right fit at this point in time,” Puckett says.
Daniels was hired for the brand new executive director position in early April after a four month search. Puckett says Daniels was notified of her firing Wednesday morning and the board's decision was effective immediately.
She tells KTVO that KDIC will be forming a search committee to hire a new executive director. Information on how to apply for the position will be available on the city's website soon.
Puckett says the change in leadership will not affect KDIC's work in the downtown area. Kirksville is currently a finalist in Missouri Main Street Award program for its downtown revitalization efforts. That award will be presented next week in St. Louis, Mo.
Puckett says the board would like to hire a new executive director as soon as possible, but will be concentrating on finding the candidate that is the right fit for the job.
KTVO contacted Lynn Daniels Friday. She declined to comment on her firing.
