OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Roxanne Conlin, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, visited Ottumwa on Saturday morning as part of her "Fight To Fix It" tour.
Her campaign is planning to reach all of Iowa's 99 counties over the next few months in an attempt to win the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Senator Charles Grassley.
Among the issues Conlin discussed was Health Care. She said that Health Care affects everyone, even people covered who cannot access the insurance when they need it, stating that the insurance company has "absolute power over whether they can get the treatment that they need."
KTVO spoke with her following her meeting at the Lucky Rooster Coffee House. She spoke about the two key issues of her campaign.
"Jobs and the economy. That's the basic unit of measurement as to the well-being of our families and frankly I'm fed up. I'm fed up with double-digit unemployment and endless wars and debt and deficit and bailouts on Wall Street and nothing, nothing, nothing for Main Street. And I'm going to fight to fix that. The special interests have had their turn in Washington, D.C. and now it's our turn," Conlin said.
Conlin served as Assistant Attorney General for Iowa and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. She owns and operates a law firm, Roxanne Conlin & Associates, in Des Moines.
