LANCASTER, MO. -- We first reported back in November that Tri-County Electric Cooperative plans to build a 3.2 million dollar facility to replace its older buildings in Lancaster, Missouri.
Six hundred of the cooperative members signed a petition stating they want more information before any money is spent.
The money used to build the new facility will raise electric rates.
The members say the board has not kept them informed on the process, so they went to Tuesday night’s meeting demanding answers.
“It’s just a matter of us wanting to hear the information so we can make an informed decision. There’s a lot of folks that are scared it might double their electric bills. We just want to hear the business behind it,” Schuyler County resident Chris Smyser said.
Tri-County officials say they’ve had a binder in their office with all the pertinent information.
Members say, according to the bylaws of the cooperative, the board must hold a public meeting now that over 500 members have signed the petition.
