KIRKSVILLE, MO --

On Saturday, December 5, two Kirksville High School Band members auditioned for the Missouri All-State Band.  Forrest Beck, junior french horn player, and Austin Motley, freshman trombone player, both auditioned and were asked to come back for a second audition.

Austin Motley was selected to play in the band and marks the first student from Kirksville to be selected to the Missouri All-State Band in over 30 years.  In the past 10 years numerous students have been selected as alternates in the band or as members of the honorable mention band. Kirksville has had students in the All-State Jazz Band and Orchestra in the past 10 years.

The Missouri All-State Band will perform in concert at the Missouri Music Educator's Association Convention on January 30, 2010 at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach.
