KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville woman is facing felony charges after authorities say she illegally obtained multiple prescriptions for painkillers.

Tanniea Raymer, 39, is charged with fraudulently attempting to obtain methadone hydrochloride. She's currently being held in the Adair County Jail on $10,000 cash only bond.

Authorities allege that Raymer visited several different area doctors to get prescriptions for hydrocodone, which is often used as a painkiller. Court documents state that she obtained a prescription for hydrocodone seven times between Sept. 14 and Sept. 22, 2009.

Authorities say that when they confronted Raymer she told them she's been addicted to the drug for some time and did not tell the doctors she visited that other doctors had already given her prescriptions for hydrocodone.

Whats the story?

I would like to know why KTVO has not done a follow up story on her death. How and why she died and wether or not the Adair County Law Enforcement Center (aka jail) is at any fault in the matter.

the system failed tanniea they should have done a work up of tanniea to see what her problem was before giving her a script for pain killers!

heartfelt sadness

I am so sorry for everyone's loss. I remember her from years back and she was always kind to me. Life brings struggles that not even the strongest person could handle it seems like anymore. Honestly, we all have our own way of dealing...coping but we are all human. Respect seems distant and yet years back it was always given but now life is full of stress and a person just has to deal with it in the way that they are comfortable, because it seems like everyone is out to hurt each other with words, actions and even thoughts. TODAY my thoughts go to everyone who was this woman's friend.... Rest in peace and I will not ever forget your kindness to me.

KTVO drops the ball again

It's funny that the Daily Distress has already run this womans obituary while KTVO hasn't bothered to follow up the story and say that she died.

I will miss you

For Tanniea's family espically Tisha I want you to know I am thinking of you and I am so sorry for your loss. To anyone who wanted to make negative comments about Tanniea now how do you feel about yourselves. We all have made mistakes in our lives but it doesn't make us bad people. I was lucky enough to meet Tanniea almost five years ago and we continued to be friends. No she wasn't perfect but she was my friend who helped me through one of the most diffcult times in my life and that doesn't make her a bad person at all. I will miss that smile of your Tanniea that I saw only 10 days ago and I am grateful for the friendship. Kris Lsncaster,MO

hydrocodone

This in response to the person complaining about the doctors "padding" their pockets and having to jump through hoops to get pain killers. Ask your doctor how many hoops the DEA makes him or her jump through to write that presciption or how many times they have been made to feel like "drug dealers" because the DEA has come to investigate their records. Thank god that you have a doctor that is concerned about your recovery. Who know maybe that physical therapy would do some good if you participated in your own recovery. Come on folks it's about time we started taking responsibility for ourselves.

Kirksville Resident

My understanding is this woman was calling the RX in herself and didnt actually see the doctors she had RX's from. I don't believe any doctor would just write the RX without checking how many she had before.

I haven't met ANY Dr's like that here

I'm always amazed to hear stories like this. I've been suffering from chronic pain for 16 years with tons of medical proof of surgery, physical therapy etc.
I've tried more than a few Drs. in Kville and non are willing to prescribe anything at all unless I jump through their hoops and go to therapy first...which I've done repeatedly at an enormous cost even after insurance. Only then will a Dr prescribe a measly 30 day supply and demand that I show up every month for an office visit just so they can look at me and pad their pockets.

It's people like the one in this story that make Dr's treat the rest of us like junkies and we don't get the help we need.

On the other hand....who are the dr's this woman went to? They don't seem to have any problems writing prescriptions! I sure haven't run into any Drs like that around here.
