MEMPHIS, MO. -- The city of Memphis is starting to see progress in the makeover of its courthouse clock tower.

The Mechanical Watch Supply Company, based in Minneapolis, has been restoring the century old clock over the past several months.

Workers are in the process of replacing old and outdated parts.

Much of the work is being done in Minnesota.

On Wednesday, they were in Memphis to install new faces and new hands on the four clocks on the Scotland County Courthouse.

“We should have the rest of the clock here next spring, and we're all just really excited. We're thankful to the community for all the donations and all of the hard work and all the effort that was put into this project,” said Batina Dodge, chairwoman of the Scotland County Community Betterment group.

The total price tag for the clock makeover is $47,500.

It's being paid for with a grant and donations from the community.

“There's always obstacles that you don't anticipate, you know. It's a large project, it involves a lot of different techniques.  It takes time to pull it all together really nicely. I'm happy with the results," said Rory DeMesy, clock repairman.

The community betterment group still needs an additional $3,500 to pay for the project.

For more information on that, contact Batina Dodge in the Scotland County Clerk’s Office in Memphis.
