KIRKSVILLE, MO --

If you need a little extra cash in your pocket, you could turn in your old valuables.

The Treasure Hunters Roadshow is in town looking for old coins, antiques and collectors items. Just take your treasures in and you'll be paid in cash for them. The whole process takes about 15 minutes. So far in Kirksville, most people have brought in gold and silver coins.

“Those are probably the top hot items right now, but you know, with gold and silver being all time high obviously everyone has something broken in their jewelry boxes or something they haven't had on, people aren't wearing gold like they used to so that's where you're going to get your fast, easy money,” said Show Manager Barb Hipsher.

The Roadshow will be at the NEMO Fairgrounds in Kirksville Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Gold and silver

Posted by earl hickey, chicago - Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 10:07 p.m.

With the price of gold and silver going up every day , why would anyone in their right mind sell jewelry or coins for US dollars that are declining in value daily. I remember a few months ago when gold was selling for about $900 per ounce and people were eagerly selling to the dealers and thinking they got a great deal. Now the price of Gold is $1142 per ounce, almost $250 higher. Silver is $18.50 per ounce. Many people are predicting Gold will go to $1500 -$2000 per ounce in the next year. My advice - don't sell . Hang on to what you have and buy more if you can. If we have a currency breakdown , you may need it.

Maybe they pay cash for smaller amounts? I however was paid by check. I hope it clears.
