NEAR KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Friday, November 13 marks the six-month anniversary of the deadly twisters that left a path of destruction through northeast Missouri.

This week we're following up on local recovery efforts.

The Clinton and Mary Jerome home east of Kirksville on Steer Creek Way was annihilated by the May 13th tornado.

Fortunately, the Jeromes were out of town when the twister ripped apart their 7,500-square-foot brick home.

The couple had just lived in their new home a little over a year.

Now, the home is just about rebuilt.

Clinton told KTVO the reconstruction has gone much faster than he expected.

He said the whole ordeal has been awful, but the generosity of family, friends, neighbors and even strangers has gotten them through it all.

“This has been an experience I wouldn't take a dollar to do it again. I wouldn't want to go through it again, but it has been.... I don't know what word you would use, but to know that the people have been there to help you, absolute strangers, you can't describe that," said Clinton Jerome.

The Jeromes are hoping to be moved back in by Thanksgiving.

The last we knew, about all they were waiting on were cabinets.

Construction crews have concentrated their efforts on the main level of the home to get that move-in ready.

The finished basement still has quite a bit of work yet to be done.
