KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville man is behind bars on drug charges after authorities say he tried to deliver narcotics to a minor.
Daniel Sorensen, 20, was arrested Friday night after Kirksville Police say he attempted to make a delivery of the prescription drug Pregabalin also known as Peblin or Lyrica.
Sorensen is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. He's being held in the Adair County Jail on $75,000 cash only bond.
On Thursday authorities were contacted by a parent about suspicious text messages they found on their child's cell phone. The text messages indicated someone was trying to give the minor narcotics.
Police officers began texting back using the minor's cell phone and arranged to meet the person to pick up the drugs at a lift station on Benton Way on Friday night. Sorensen was the person that arrived at that location at the designated time; a search turned up two blister packs of Pregabalin, a total of 20 pills, in his coat.
