KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Some much younger students were on the campus of Truman State University Tuesday. Select students from across Northeast Missouri got a day off from classes to train with area media experts for their Smokebusters campaigns.
The training allowed students to learn how to use their advocacy skills to promote tobacco-free environments.
KTVO's C.E. Huffman discussed tips for using television to advocate for a smoke-free society. Students learned how to prepare for interviews and presented their final projects. Students say being part of Smokebusters is a worth-while experience and the day off from classes doesn't hurt.
The Smokebusters include students from both middle schools and high schools in Northeast Missouri. For more information on Smokebusters visit their website: http://showmesmokefree.com/html/smokebusters-200812033/.
