JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Gov. Jay Nixon will be asking lawmakers to provide greater incentives for businesses to expand in Missouri.

Nixon has been traveling around the state meeting with community college leaders and business executives. The Democratic governor is laying the groundwork for what he describes as his "Missouri First" initiative during the 2010 legislative session.

Although details are still in the works, Nixon says he will be proposing "a comprehensive package of legislation to support existing Missouri companies."

He says the package also will ensure that community colleges are providing training that matches the needs of Missouri employers.
