KIRKSVILLE, MO --
A Kirksville man is behind bars for allegedly hitting and choking his wife. Louis Pope, 34, is charged with second-degree domestic assault and one count of felonious restraint. Both are class 'C' felonies.
According to court documents obtained by KTVO, Pope is a persistent offender and has a prior record of two other felonies. He was found guilty for possession of a controlled substance in Scotland County back in 2000. In 2008, he was found guilty of first-degree burglary in Adair County Court.
Pope is being held in the Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.
