KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Heavy rains overtook Kirksville Thursday, causing another episode in a frequent flooding problem in parts of the city.

Flooding was reported all over town. Rotary park turned from a park into what could almost be called a lake. Several streets were closed and reopened throughout the day.  And because of a water main break at the junction of Cottage Grove and Illinois streets, city crews directed traffic for a while on a section of Cottage Grove.

Public Works and the Missouri Department of transportation workers were out in full force, setting up road blocks and cleaning out city culverts.
