BLOOMFIELD, IOWA --
Thieves are out to sabotage a local mayor's reelection.
It was reported to the Bloomfield police Tuesday morning that about 58 of Mayor Sam Eakins’ campaign signs have been stolen. This probably cost the mayor's campaign around 300 dollars in lost signs. Eakins says he has no idea who's behind this, and he considers the act immature and inconsiderate.
“Talking to some of my supporters this morning, they're offering a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the people that did this, so hopefully with that incentive maybe somebody will step forward and these people will be brought to justice,” Eakins said.
Eakins says with only a week until the election, he doesn't really have time to order more signs. He says he might spend his advertising dollars in another way.
