KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Catholic Newman Center at Truman State University reaches out to both Truman students and community members.

The Newman center provides opportunities for students to grow and learn more about their faith. In the spirit of education, the church holds a teaching Mass once a year.  The teaching Mass took place this week before the regular Wednesday night Mass.

This year Father Bill Kottenstette used students to help explain the different parts of the Mass.

“To have a teaching Mass one, is for those Catholics who have forgotten and for those non-Catholics who have some interests in the Mass itself. They may have come with friends and want to learn a little bit more about why we do things this way, what this might mean.  It’s just a way of getting information to those who are interested” said Father Bill.

Father Bill says the teaching Mass is as a great opportunity for people from all walks of faith to learn about the Catholicism.
