KIRKSVILLE, MO --
Local educators met Friday for the annual State of Education address. This was the first segment of the Chamber of Commerce's “Government in Focus” series.
Education leaders shared the accomplishments and challenges facing their districts this year. Superintendents from the Kirksville, Novinger, and Brashear schools agreed that the biggest challenge is making improvements to the quality of education and facility with limited funds.
A goal shared by many this year is to improve the cooperation among schools.
“I want to work on more articulation agreements with Truman State, that is a major factor for our students in this area, our students that do transfer there do well, and like I said when we were talking earlier, we track those students to find out to make sure they're doing well,” said Artie Fowler, Director of the Kirksville Higher Education Center.
