JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.-- In an effort to ensure that the public has an opportunity
for input, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your
ideas about the Missouri State Museum to a community dialogue. These dialogues
will be held throughout the state for the museum, which is located on the first floor
of the Capitol in Jefferson City.
All meetings are schedule to start at 6 p.m. and are expected to last for
approximately two hours. The dates and locations of these meetings follow:
* Sept. 24 -- National Frontier Trails Museum, 318 W. Pacific,
Independence
* Oct. 1 -- Kirksville City Hall, City Council Chambers, 201 S.
Franklin, Kirksville
* Oct. 8 -- Nodaway County Historical Museum, 110 N. Walnut St.,
Maryville
* Oct. 13 -- Holocaust Museum and Learning Center, 12 Millstone
Campus Drive, Creve Coeur
* Oct. 22 -- Cape Girardeau Public Library, O.C. Hirsch Room, 711 N.
Clark, Cape Girardeau
* Oct. 29 -- Historic City Hall, City Council Chambers, 830 Boonville

The Missouri State Museum is currently participating in a Public Dimension
Assessment through the American Association of Museums to help the museum
understand its role in the community. Your participation will help staff
assess the museum's strengths and weaknesses and assist them in planning for
the future. This will be a facilitated dialogue, and your input will be
incorporated into the assessment. If you cannot attend any of the meetings,
you can e-mail your ideas to
dsp.state.museum@dnr.mo.gov
.
The Missouri State Museum staff provides tours and programs to thousands of
visitors to the Capitol each year. They also manage the museum galleries
that are on the first floor of the Capitol and the extensive artifact
collection of the museum. These community dialogues are part of an ongoing
effort by the Department of Natural Resources to ensure the public has input
on services provided in state parks and historic sites.
For more information on the event, contact the Missouri State Museum office
at 573-751-2854 or the Department of Natural Resources toll free at
