KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Missouri Attorney Chris Koster made a stop in Kirksville Wednesday to talk shop with local law enforcement officials. The group met for lunch and a roundtable discussion about law enforcement problems going on in Adair County.

“We talked about Jefferson City sending more resources to the prosecution side of the law enforcement equation. We talked about the methamphetamine crisis and the need to bring more coordination toward tracking some of those precursors to meth,” Koster said.

The group also toured the Human Identification Technologies building and talked about the need for the DNA lab. Koster says he plans to look for resources in Jefferson City to make the prospective lab a reality for Kirksville.

He says it will be challenging to secure money for the lab, but that it is essential for tested DNA to get back in the court system at a faster pace. The HIT project still needs $1.5 million of funding.
