KEOSAUQUA, IOWA -- An Iowa official remains in public office after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.

Van Buren County Engineer, Ronald Bonjour, pleaded guilty on March 20th to Count One. The federal indictment from 2008 states that Bonjour "did knowingly possess one or more matters containing visual depictions, that is, computer images and videos...involving the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, as defined in Title 18, United States Code, Section 2256(2)."

Many viewers called KTVO, wanting to know why Bonjour was allowed to remain on the county payroll. Our Fact Finder Team spoke with County Supervisors, Marvin Philips and William Randolph, about the matter. Both said that Bonjour has not been removed from office previously because he had not been convicted, or pleaded guilty to any crime.

In light of Bonjour's guilty plea on March 20, supervisors stated their intention to hold a meeting on his employment status. This meeting could come as early as Friday, April 10.

Federal sentencing for Bonjour is expected this summer.
