KEOKUK, IA -- A forty panel folding screen made by the members of the Tri-State Woodcarvers was the first entry to be submitted for the 2008 Festival of Trees. One side celebrates the holidays with  twenty carved panels representing every facet of the Christmas season. The opposite side depicts twenty varieties of wild birds that can be found throughout the Midwest.

Expecting many more equally creative entries, members of the Keokuk Art Center are  hard at work planning for the November 22 gala and auction. This year's event is the Art Center's nineteenth consecutive festival and will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express. As in the past, the evening will feature refreshments and a buffet followed by both a silent and live auction of items generously donated by area businesses and individuals.

Tickets for the Keokuk Art Center's Festival of Trees and Gifts are $12.00 each and may be purchased at the Art Center, from members of the Art Center's Board of Directors, or at the door.  Proceeds from the event will be used to support the programs and activities of the Art Center including classes and workshops, scholarships, and the Artists in the Schools Program.
