LOCKRIDGE, IA -- Republican senator Chuck Grassley is on recess from Congress and he's using this time to connect with his constituents.

He is trying to visit all 99 counties inthe Hawkeye State and he stopped by Jefferson County today.

A town hall meeting was set up at the Lockridge Senior Center where Senator Grassley answered questions for an hour from concerned citizens.

Many of the questions revolved around the health care debate and the so-called "Obama-care" plan.

The budget was also addressed as well as concerns over the stalling of the Farm Bill on Capitol Hill.

Senator Grassley said that the Farm Bill has been amended since the late 1940's and if an agreement isn't reached in September, the policies of the Farm Bill would then revert back to those of the bill in the 1940's, a time Grassley calls "extremely different" than the agricultural situation going on these days.

Grassley also expressed concern over the budget.

He says that the country hasn't had an official budget since April 2009.

The senator will be going to the Iowa State Fair this weekend before touring southwest Iowa next week.
