A man found guilty in a shooting death is sentenced.
23-year-old Michael Mutchler of Memphis, Missouri was found guilty of Second Degree Involuntary Manslaughter and Armed Criminal Action in the June, 2008, death of Joseph Alvey of Wyaconda, Missouri.
Mutchler was sentenced Tuesday to a total of eight years in prison, four years on each count, with the sentences to run consecutively.
Mutchler was originally charged with First Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action. The shooting happened at a residence near Gorin, Missouri.
Mutchler could have received up to seven years on the manslaughter charge and three years to life on the Armed Criminal Action charge.
State statute requires a three year minimum on the weapons charge; however Mutchler was given credit for nearly a year and a half already served while awaiting trial.
