MACON, MO --
If you still haven't received your tax refund check, we might know why.
Our Fact Finder Team has learned that over 1300 Missouri checks were returned to the IRS due to mailing address errors. The checks totaled more than $950,000 dollars. That's an average refund of about $700
In Iowa, more than 500 regular refund checks were returned by the U.S. Postal Service. Those checks are worth almost $500 dollars. That's an average refund of $894 dollars.
To avoid this problem in the future, the IRS recommends using the direct deposit option.
