FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- The Jefferson County Conservation Board opened up the Ceder View Trail to vehicles for some drive by sight seeing Sunday.

This one and a half mile section of trail offers some of falls beautiful colors. It's normally closed to motor traffic, but this once a year opportunity allows elderly and disabled people the chance to enjoy the beauty of the trail system.

“We open it up for about four hours on a Sunday and we let people drive through. They come in one end and out the other.  They get to see some of the sights, go over some of the bridges and hopefully see some fall colors at the same time” said Ron Meyers.

More than 100 vehicles drove through this afternoon to check out the fall leaves. While the trails won't be open to vehicle traffic again until next year, they are still available for walking and biking if you want to get out and see those fall colors before they're all gone.
