KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Man's best friend had the chance to make a splash Saturday at the 4th Annual Doggy Luau in Kirksville.

Pet owners could take their furry four-legged friends for a dip in Brashear Park. The luau is put on by Pawsitive Animal Works and the City of Kirksville. More than 30 dogs turned out for the event, which included a costume contest and free doggy bags.

“The Dog Luau is a great way at the end of the summer after everyone else is done swimming, we allow the dogs to go swimming and it's just a great way to socialize dog lovers. People socialize their dogs with other dogs, just get out, have fun, splash around,” said Laci Cook, Owner of Pawsitive Animal Works.

All proceeds will benefit the Adair County Humane Society. If you’d like to make a donation, call 665-8038 or just stop by the Humane Society on Highway 6 West.
