KIRKSVILLE, MO --

It was a monumental day for incoming medical students at A.T Still University--Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Members in the class of 2013 received their very first white physician's coat. The Class Induction and White Coat ceremony was held Saturday morning on Truman State University's campus. The ceremony is a tradition that shows first year medical students the significance and symbolism of wearing a white doctor's coat.

“Thousands wanted the seats that you all are in right now. All joking aside, that white coat cost much more than just the price tag of a medical degree. You have given so much of yourselves already, and will the rest of your lives,” addressed Ashley Warren to the Class of 2013. Warren is a second year osteopathic medical student.

172 medical students were inducted into KCOM in the White Coat ceremony.
