LANCASTER, MO -- Highway 63 received a makeover today, or at least a new coat of asphalt.
The Missouri Department of Transportation began resurfacing a long stretch of road in Schulyer County last Tuesday and that work has continued.
Traffic is reduced to one lane in some parts of the county, and the road could take another 9 weeks to complete.
The 18-mile stretch of road reaches from the north edge of Kirksville to just shy of the Iowa line.
Approximately two miles of roadway will be reduced to one lane where the crews are working.
Another road project is underway in Iowa-near Bloomfield traffic is down to one lane while crews are working on the road's surface there.
Workers on the scene and MODOT wish to remind motorists to slow down for the workers. Please stay under the speed limit in the work zone for the safety of work crews on the scene.
