BROOKFIELD, MO --

The City of Brookfield, Missouri is celebrating its 150th birthday this week.

Events and activities have been going on since the Sesquicentennial Celebration kicked off last Sunday. Hundreds of entries participated in Saturday’s parade, including a drum and bugle corps that traveled all the way from Florida.

Other significant events from the week included historic home tours and a 25 year-old time capsule release. Country music star Tracy Lawrence was Saturday night’s featured entertainment. There's still more going on Sunday as the celebration wraps up.

“We have a gentleman, he's an actor from California, his name's Frank Runyeon and he used to star on All My Children and As the World Turns with Meg Ryan. He’s going to put on a free program at 3 pm. In the High School gym,” said Committee Member Nancie Saccaro.

Other activities include an All Church Picnic at 12:30 p.m. in the Twin Parks and a time capsule ceremony at 2 p.m.

It would be nice if your TV station would spend more time on local events and happings in the area. The information you have on the Fly Wheel con. in Macon and the 150th cel. in Brokfield is really to late. These are really big get togeathers for the area. And there was really no coverage on the NEMO Fair at all. The bike race in Iowa is nice, but, it effects few people in and around our area. I know that tv 3 is also based in Iowa, and that is what is going on but.... being a rual area with the majority of your viewers being rual, I wish you would cover more of the local celebrations and county fairs on the 1st or 2nd day.. not after the fun is over. Or maybe even hit a few of the 4-H shows. You cover baseball and sports for the area. You are the only connection for the heartland and surounding counties. We depend on you and your peple to supply everyone with information. The community cal. and info is nice. But, more info on the surrounding counties would be better.
