WINIGAN, CLARENCE, HOLDEN, ST. JOE, MO. -- Four Missouri bank robberies in one week, and it appears the same two guys may be behind three of them, although investigators aren't coming right out and saying that yet.

One of KTVO’s law enforcement sources implied that the first three robberies are likely connected.

The first two holdups were in our area: first in Winigan, then in Clarence.

Here's a timeline of the four armed robberies.

It all started in Winigan last Thursday. The first of four bank heists happened at the Winigan branch of the Bank of Brookfield-Purdin.

At 9:05 a.m., two white men held up the bank. One, described as 5’8” weighing 200 pounds, went in armed with a handgun and demanded money, while the other guy waited in the getaway car, which witnesses say was an early ‘90s white Buick.

The two got away with an undisclosed amount of money and apparently laid low until Tuesday when they struck Community State Bank in Clarence around 9:30 a.m. It appears they switched roles in this holdup. The guy who entered the bank this time around with a handgun was about 6’ tall, slender build with short cropped hair. Investigators believe the heavyset robber waited a short distance from the bank in the same getaway car, a white '90s model Buick. The two escaped from clarence with approximately $5,000.

The very next day, just around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, two white suspects robbed this bank in the small community of Holden, southeast of Kansas City. Right after the holdup here, they fired as least five shots at pursuing police cars, disabling one vehicle. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Investigators say the robbers got away and then abandoned their getaway car, a white Buick Regal, in a field. They set it on fire before stealing a late-model white Chevy flatbed pickup from a nearby barn and leaving the area. That truck was found Thursday in the Missouri River near Boonville. The description of the one suspect in the Holden heist matches the suspect captured on the surveillance camera during the Winigan bank robbery.

The FBI, Highway Patrol and other agencies are working to solve these crimes. Meanwhile the suspects remain on the loose.

It's still unclear if Thursday morning's bank robbery at Midwest Federal Savings and Loan in St. Joe might be related to the first three bank holdups. Authorities say the suspect in that crime appeared to be acting alone.
