BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- Rodeo performances started at the Davis County Fairgrounds on Thursday evening. Events on Independence Day included a rotary pancake breakfast, the rodeo parade at 1:00 P.M. along with games and food vendors set up throughout the day in the courtyard. And despite the rain on Saturday morning, the enthusiasm was not dampened.
Ed Good, who organized the annual rodeo, spoke with KTVO just prior to the parade.
"We've had some tremendous bull rides, we've got a high score of 82 going right now. The horses have been doing fantastic job and the nicest thing about it: you come to our rodeo, you're going to be under roof...you will not get wet," said Good.
Good said that the rodeo draws in contestants from seven states, many of which travel to compete in shows nationwide. He added that the Fort Bloomfield Rodeo is a topnotch spectacle that could match any rodeo in the country.
