WINIGAN, MO. -- Law enforcement officers across northern Missouri are trying to find two bank robbery suspects who are considered armed and dangerous.

Sullivan County Sheriff Roger Smiley says two white men held up the Winigan branch of the bank of Brookfield-Purdin at 9:05 a.m. Thursday.

Prior to the holdup, one of the suspects cut all phone lines leading into the bank. The snipped wires were visible on the back of the building.

The suspect who entered the bank was wearing a camouflage face mask and was armed with a handgun. Authorities say he pointed the weapon at a teller and demanded money, while the other guy waited in the get-away car.

After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the two suspects took off in an early '90s white, four-door Buick. The car was riding very low in the rear end and was seen traveling south out of Winigan after the robbery.

The suspect who entered the bank was captured on the bank's surveillance camera. He's described as heavy set, with short dark hair and a scruffy beard.

If you see a car or the suspects matching these descriptions, you are asked to call your local law enforcement agency and report it.

Investigators say four employees and one customer were in the bank at the time of the crime. No one was injured in Thursday’s bank robbery in Winigan.

Gun Control?

Criminals will ALWAYS have access to guns. Isn't about time the tellers have them too so that they can defend themselves. Get a right to carry permit, then allow it at banks, convienence stores, etc. for all the clerks. Criminals might think twice about trying to rob a place then.
