MACON, MO -- On June 24 police received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from the 1300 block of Ivy Street in Macon.
It was reported that a black 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was parked unattended in a residential driveway with the keys in it at approximately 8:00 pm.
At 10:00 pm, the owner realized the vehicle was missing and contacted police. Information was broadcast to area law enforcement and at 11:17 pm, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reportedly located the vehicle on Highway 63 just south of Moberly parked unattended roadside.
The vehicle was processed and released to the owner. It was reported that only an undisclosed amount of cash was missing from the vehicle and no damages were noted. This case remains under investigation.
The Macon Police Department urges the public to remember to take the keys from their vehicle and lock it when leaving it unattended for any period of time. This will deter thieves from attempting to take the vehicle or any of its contents when your vehicle is unattended.
