MACON, MO. -- MoDOT received three contractor bids Friday to rebuild a section of Route 156 near Gifford that was washed away in May during heavy rainfall and flooding.  The apparent low bid of $321,000 was submitted by R&L Boone Construction of Marceline.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission will consider the bids on July 8.  If the Commission approves, construction should begin shortly thereafter.  MoDOT estimates the work to be completed by mid-August.

MoDOT worked quickly with the Corps of Engineers to devise a plan for replacement and solicit contractor bids; and MoDOT committed to reopen the road to traffic at the earliest possible date.
