OTTUMWA, IA -- The Salvation Army will open a new cooling center, the first of its kind in Ottumwa.

The center, at 725 West Second Street, will feature several things to make the summer heat a little more bearable.

It will include air conditioning, ice water, and a lunch program and play room for kids.

The center's hours are Sunday through Friday  from 8:30 AM-5 pm.
 
The Children’s lunch program will be inside from 12:30-1:30 and is free.
